Well, just ordered an apxx 18 from atomic... 4" voice coil, had em build it for spl comps and daily music. Question is, is it a bad idea to push 5k daily to this bad boy for music?

if done right you will be fine.

you can do it, but you'll need 4-5 batteries, a real 5kw amp...and an eclosure that wont unload so much which means it will **** for daily. You can't have both brah, either a burp monster or daily...and if you do daily you can't put the 5kw to it.

And yes, i've owned one or two of them. I think ive owned one or two of ever sub in the world.

well i have 1 xs6500 up front and twin kinetik hc2000's in the back with a 250 amp alt... was planning on doing a 6 cu ft box with four six inch aero's so I can cap one, two or three of them off for my desired tuning... I.E. comps and daily. and I was planning on getting the atomic 5000.1 D.... does this sound good at all. I really want to push 5k to it daily....

should I push it with an aq 2200 D then... but I still want to hit in the 150's??? And the rms is 5k so what would be some reasons for not pushing 5k to it.... this is only my second system so please bear with me... ( first one was an l7- pretty big difference between the atomic and l7:laugh

and just checking... d1 voice coils = .5 ohm resistance total correct???? and if I put an atomic 5k on it could I turn the gain down/ set with dmm for daily and turn it up/ set with dmm for comps???

just get an aq3500 or saz3500.. run it at 2 ohms daily, and .5 ohm for comps. so youll be sending it about 2600 watts daily, and upwards of 4k at comps.

believe me, jumping from at l7 to this woofer on 2600 will be huge.. nevertheless 4k at a comp...

by altering the coils from series and parallel..

oh so instead of pos to neg and pos to neg i can go neg to neg and pos to pos... told you I am a newb. thanks... the only concern I have is that the aq's arent stable to .5 ohms. If I get the atomic 5000 with the sub wired at two ohms it would push 2000 watts to it... and just to make sure two d1 voice coils = .5 ohm in series and one ohm in parallel correct????? if that is the case then I cant wire it to two ohms... thanks for the help by the way

no. D1 means .5 in series, 2 ohm in parallel, look at it like this. parallel : 1+1

although its not stated at .5ohm stable, many people run it at .5 ohm no problem. sazs ive heard go down to .25ohm.

and after rise, youll be fine.

thanks man.. total newb here you think twin hc2000s in back and an xs6500 up front with a 250 amp alt and double runs of 0ga. will be sufficient for electrical??? oh and big three of course...
