If both these are available at about the same cost, which would you choose?

Both of these will meet my needs.

from hearing both to be honest man....u cant go wrong with either....both are very accurate and clean sounding....very good SQ

Thanks, The Dayton's are backordered for 8+ days, and I just came across a decent deal in the Image Dynamics.

Now I'm gonna need a box, insulation, carpet cover, connectors... (or maybe a good pre-made one?)

I like Image Dynamics.

As for box. You can go prefab as long as its a sealed box. You will have to reseal the corners just to make sure. DO NOT get a prefab ported box. Usually they are junk. Tuned to high, not enough air space due to ports, etc.

If they're anything like the 12 inch versions, IDQ should be a lot more more efficient than Dayton. The Dayton can run in a very small sealed box provided you have tons of power. However, I believe it's more geared more towards compact vented/ported box use. My preference would be simply toward the sub that would work best for your install in terms of available power, box type, etc. For example, I believe the IDQ may be available in 4ohm DVC version and this could be a deciding factor if you need to wire it for 2ohm load. Also do not discount the 10 inch Dayton HF. It's something like twice as efficient as the HO10, but needs a bit bigger box, maybe 0.8-1cu ft.
