Black History Month is now solely dedicated to our new President who isn't even black.
I just sat in an assembly for an hour, listening to a guy talk about how great Obama was. He started off the speech saying that this was more about diversity, not just blacks. Then sits there and talks about how great the innaguration was, how great this country will be now, bashes on Bush for a minute or two, and how we are such a close nation now, because we elected a black man as President.
So about 30 minutes into it a group of about 5 kids just get up and leave. I'm sitting right next to a door, a teacher stops them. And asks them what they are doing. One of the guys tells her that they are going back to class(mind you there are about 800 kids in this gymnasium). She tells them they can't leave and to return to their seats. So the kid got pretty vocal about it and said he didn't want to listen to liberal biased bullshit. So at this point about half the gym is looking at them and not the speaker, although he continues talking.
So within minutes of them arguing, the principals coming in to try and settle things down, about 50 more kids have got up and are asking to leave. I'M STILL SITTING IN MY SEAT. So then the cop who roams the school comes in. More kids are continuing to leave their seats, and try and leave, and eventually they let them. So while they are letting them all leave I just hopped up and left with them lol.
Do you think the teachers had any right to stop the students from leaving? I don't...
Cliffs: Black history month assembly, guy praises Obama, kids want to leave, teachers won't let them for 15 minutes or so then give in. Causes a scene
