just got my new amp,

i heard the AP series was a decent budget amp.. i was kinda skeptical... opened her up and looks pretty decent... actually the amp looks pretty nice in person IMO.. another thing are the internals are actually mounted upside down

Some pretty decent looking guts on that amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. The board looks to be mounted normally though, just how all amps that I've opened have been. (Crunch 3000, PA 3000, Sundown 3000, Kicker ZX2500, etc). The board mounts to the top of the heatsink, facing down. This provides the most contact with the thickest part of the heatsink as far as I can tell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Mounting it on the bottom facing up would be pretty bad considering the bottom plate on amps are usually very thin pressed aluminum or steel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

yeah i figured first amp ive opened up thats been like that tho...
Time to change your sig to reflect this amp is in your possession now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

What do you plan on powering with this amp? Your current G1's?

lol i just got bigger than i needed for the future, the subs i got now wont take all 1500 (if it does rated) and even if they did my electrical wouldnt handle it...

i got it from caraudiodeals.com

$205 shipped (ordered friday got here today, and they didnt ship till monday)

1500 @ 1 ohm

its rpetty small too.. i havent checked if it works yet.. lol... but if it does ill be very happy with this purchase (made sure of no stickers before opening it tho lol)

and it came with the biggest inline fuse holder i ever seen haha - ill take it

Definitely more then you needed, isn't power handling on the G1's 200w RMS? Haha! Better to have more then less I suppose =].

From what I've heard and the people I've talked to running AP they do rated power and maybe some more. I've only dealt with people who were running the 3K's though, so I'm not sure.

yeah it is, theyl easily take more than 200 (and evne tho they got 10.5 mm xmax they got 22 xmech -one way) my guess would be like 400 a piece.. but i got them for $120 shipped.. better than nothing for now - ill get a better sub when i have money.. but why pay like $200 for a 500 rms amp to match these when i could pay $200 for a 1500 one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

the ap3000d is two of the ap1500d

Yeah I know that, lol. Was just saying though, cooling may be superior on the 3000D which may be holding back 1500D performance. Just because it has the same boards doesn't mean it's the same performance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

thats another reason i picked this amp tho is that they can be strapped... so even if my next setup needs more than the 1500 watts this can put out, i can basically double it for only $200

for the most part it does in this case... not only does it use the same board, it uses the same components minus the cooling fans... and actually, people have had more sucess running these below rated impedence than the 3k's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Lol I'm not arguing with you, I simply said I had no personal experience with the 1500 model. I don't like talking out of my ***, so I said I didn't know, but I knew the 3000's were great for the money.
