Anyway to go 16v without getting a 16v alt?

FluxCaps tm are used to step up the 12 volt battery in your vehicle or other sources to 14.7 volts to supply suitable charging voltage for gel batteries or to give amplifiers a voltage boost in applications where the DC power wires have voltage drops that limit the power output from your amplifier(s). This 50 amp model is better suited for charging your amplifier batteries versus supplying all the current a high power amplifier system would use. The 17.9 volt option provides power to charge 16 volt batteries yet stay within the "legal" sound-off voltage limit. To power amplifiers directly we suggest using one or more 100 amp FluxCaps since these supplies can be installed in parallel. They are only 3 inches wide by 5.5 inches high and 9 inches long including terminals. The efficiency is around 95% and are made in USA.
cool stuff

Running your alternator at the proper voltage will be much more efficient than a step up device. There is always some current lost when transforming voltage.

Besides that, 16 volt AGM batteries have to be charged at 19.2 volts for proper charging.

When using a true 16v alt and a step-down, you have the proper charging voltage for the batteries. A dual alt set-up is the best method and not really that complicated to install, if space is available to add the second alt.
