either professiobnal or just their own?

i just got a 99 polaris slx 1050 and the main thing i need to do besidesbuy a new battery and drain all the fluids is clean the carburetor out. its a triple carbureted system and themiddle one has a huge amount of salt buildup in it. the easy way to get it out would be to just scrape it but then it will go down into the piston which i imagine would not be good.

maybe taking the whole assy off would be best but ive never worked on carbs before //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

anyone any ideas?

I used to sell and work on them, take the whole assembly off and you are going to want to get rebuild kits for those carbs if you still can, and disassemble them completely and clean them out. You should be able to get a parts break down for the carbs.

I worked for Yamaha in the R&D department.

Just remove all three at once. Mark the location of all the hose's or take some pictures as you break it down.

Soak them in carb cleaner then use a nylon brush to get the salt off. Pick you some carb kits up and a can of PJ1 contact cleaner. Use the Contact cleaner to blow all the ports out after soaking.

Lay all your parts out on a clean towel. Make sure you put each carbs parts back in the same carb!

you know, in all the cars ive worked on and then had to put back together i never thought of taking pictrues along the way to remember. great idea! ill be sure to do that and pick up the carb cleaner. ive found a few parts on ebay that i'd like to buy but unfortunately i spent the last of my money on other parts today

sidenote:when i went to the local dealer, seeing the new sea doos in the showroom made me sad. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif vote for pay raise for military!

What ever you do, If you Sub it. "DO Not" try and start it without removing the plugs. These things will get water in the cylinder and bend a rod and blow rear seals.

ok do you mean completely submerge it, as some stand ups can do or do you just mean flip it over.

ive ridden jet skis for a long time and have flipped them over many a times. with the seadoos we had you just had ot flip them back over the right way and everything was fine. is it not so with this ski?
