Im on sprint right now and gonna be going to AT&T this weekend for obvious reasons... i want to keep my number i have now but my sprint account isnt over until 9/11/11 can i change my sprint number to something else and than get my number for AT&T that i have now? and if i do early termination i think its like 200 do i have to pay all my bills too? or just my 200?

You have to pay etf and yes you have to pay all the bills up to current. You do not have to pay all of the bills through the rest of the contract period. Also, if you're wanting to bring your existing number over to AT&T, you CANNOT cancel your service with sprint first. You must maintain your account with them and thus your number until AT&T has taken it over. Then once you're up and running with AT&T, you can cancel your sprint. Pay your ETF and you're done with them.

Your ETF should also be prorated based on how much longer is left on your contract. It may not cost you that much to get out of it, if it is up in Sept. you have to have AT&T initiate the takeover of your phone number with Sprint, but as noted, do NOT tell Sprint to cut off your phone until you've talked to AT&T.

actually you can port your number to AT&T and still keep your Sprint Account open with a different number, problem is you don't work for Sprint and they rarely ever tell customers it can be done. This is what needs to be done. If I was still doing work for Sprint I could do it. Your account number needs to remain active but your phone number needs to be on temporary hold. while it's on temporary hold get your number ported to AT&T. after the port goes through get Sprint to change your phone number while on temporary hold b/c if your account has the hold it still shows your original number even though it's been ported to AT&T. the number has to be changed while the hold is still there, it has to be done this way b/c your customer account number will still be active if not your customer account number will be displayed as closed and you'll be charged etf. if you decide you are going to do this you better make sure that the person you talk to at Sprint understands what you are going to do, if not you'll get charged. I personally wouldn't trust any of these kids that work at Sprint to do this, there are very few people that work at the store level or call centers that understand how to do this.

i havent talked to any sprint people just AT&T but than i might have to pay up to date and my ETF to get out? thats kind of shitty but can i do that in payments? or does it have to be all at once?

and it worked flawlessly. First time I got an ******* who just escalated my case to a manager who never called back. Second time I got an old lady who canceled it right away and took less than 5 minutes.
