Sorry, that title should say "seeN"

Most all mercedes have the same layout inside and trunk dimensions so one can feed ideas for the other. I have not seen too many installs on them though. I have a CLK430 and I'm trying to gather idea's.

The lady of the house has a new Jag X-type and it seems to have limitless potential with the trunk and interior so I am trying for ideas on it also.

If you have any references to installs on these please let me know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Here's a few pics of the beaters for reference to what cars we are talking about: CLICKY CLICKY

There was a member here once that had a C240 with a decent looking setup. I believe it was a Kicker comp vechicle. Here is my theory as to why you havent seen many Merc installs:

As a Merc owner myself, I have opted to leave the sound system alone. It is very difficult for aftermarket add ons and stock parts to work nicely together. Some people choose to install aftermarket anyway. In return they lose many convenience features that make Merc a Merc. A HU install will wipe your digital info display in the cluster pannel. Radio stations, outside temp, fuel economy as well as service information normaly displayed in the readout may no longer be availble. The security system and door locks will be affected. I have heard many horror stories regarding this issue where tedious troubleshooting and wire tracking was a solution to solving those headaches. These are some of the primary reasons that I havent done anything in my C-class. Too much hassle for me.

It has been a while since I looked at system setups on http://www.mbworld.org but you can give it a whirl and see just what it do.

Good luck!

Sorry, can't help you on the existing installs, but **** that is a sexy benz. I love the CLK cars.

Many thanks. It's been a good car. I bought an alpine and Ipod kit for it and it went in smoothly. The face plate on this Alpine has the smoked aluminum face so it blends in nicely.

Thank you. Fortunately this W208 doesn't have to deal with the issues of COMMAND integration into the OBD so I can hack all I want //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Most of the headache comes from messing with the fiber optic cables and I've managed to keep everything in tact for now and simply wire the head unit in by using the RCA outputs to drive the correct voltage to the amps, thereby keeping everything that is currently in line - in line without having to remove anything.

When I do remove the amps and speakers it will just be a complete bypass since it is not linked to COMMAND it will not have any effect on the rest of the car thank god!

I used to own car audio stores back before 9/11 so I have a pretty good idea of everything I'll have to do, but I can't really come up with any good game plan on the aesthetics. We didn't do anything but slam head units in the Benz's that came in. No real hardcore installs, so I am at a loss on ideas.

Thank you and keep the suggestions coming! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is that a 9847? 9835 would look better in there with the hidden CD slot and more tuning options for you. I wanted to do a system in my ex's 98 C280, but well...she's my ex lol.
