This is a great idea.

Also, take a look at the Peerless SLS6.5's. Known for their awesome midbass performance at a great price. Not too great past 1000hz, but you said you were looking for strictly midbass speakers so no problems there. I'd put my money on them over the cadence.

These will most likely have more midbass output capabilities than the SLS's due to a greater xmax and power handling, but a bit more expensive (still better than cadence): Exodus EX-Anarchy Midwoofer. Hopefully, you can fit them where you want them to go because they are definitely beasts. I wish I picked them up when they were ~$45 a piece...
