Anyone heard of the SPL subs?

Through recent browsing I've stumbled upon the "SPL" subs. They look like some real good subs, I've been curious as to how they perform but I have never heard of them and none of my friends have either. They look similar in the design of the PA MOFO and what I'd like to know is which sub is louder. If any of you know what the deal is with this sub please share your info. I have heard the 12" model in a car before, I would say get something else for that price, they aren't very good. It sounded like a 10" Xplod with holes in the cone and a misaligned motor lol. there ok but ive had friends fry them in a couple weeks and there were not even abusing them for the price there are way better subs out there

doubt that unless they didn't break them in properly and somehow went way way way over their thermal limit.

they are supposedly a clone of the power acoustik mofo with dvc1 coils and a different basket and no aluminum cooling assembly.

i dont see how they would sound that much different, SPL is a subsidiary of power acoustik. i dunno - ive never heard one. but they are supposedly loud with the right box and power.

wow! are you serious? that is bad dude, Xplod's are bad enough as is, but with the defects too!

I have 2 spl ml12's i have them ported at 40hz for spl, they cost me about $70 a piece and hit 140.2db on the dash with a new termlab mic. SPLw12's were out before the mofo's, the splw12 is strictly for ported enclosures were the mofos can be in both sealed and ported.

actually the mofos can't be sealed, on the spec sheet it's labeled not applicable for sealed enclosures

Going by the specs they list on their site, the 10 and 12 are better suited for ported boxes, but the 15" should still perform decently well sealed.

Depends on what you want. If you just want loud, then they may suite your needs. If you want loud and sounds good, I'd go for something else.

I owned a pair of their ELF 15s. As the old saying goes, SPL and SQ are two different things. "SPL" and SQ are also two different things. =p They basically fart machines that think they have some quality. For paying $75 apiece, I think I could have done better.
