I know theres a similar thread called something like "anyone with tats" but I was just wondering if anyone has their tongue pierced, or any other piercings for that matter. I have two piercings in my left cartilage, one in my right, my eyebrow, and my labret. I want my tongue done but I've heard you shouldnt open mouth kiss for the whole healing period, 5-8 wks! That would be the only thing keeping me from it.

i got my left ear peirced but havent had an earing in it for years and years

had my left cartalige peirced too but took it out and it healed up.

girls get tongue rings to do stuff to guys (you konw what i mean). so personally, when i see a guy with it done, i think he likes to do the same thing. thats just my opinion. I dont see why anybody would want to get it done. but some people are into that stuff

Many people get their tongues pierced everyday. I am a body piercier and pierce about 5-10 everyday. I is not a guy thing or a girl thing. people do it for many reason. Yes *** is one but it is not the main reason. People do it mostly just to say you did. When one get their tongue pierced, they are very nervous, and to get by that says a lot. most that dont pierce their tongue are just too afraid to have someone push a needle through their tongue. I am not saying if your tongue is not pierced you are affraid but most are. Yes you cant be kissing for about 4 weeks, no BEER drinking for 10 days. Keep your mouth clean for about 4-5 days, and eat mostly liquid food for the first four to seven days. I have been doing this for 10 years and the biggest problem is the swelling. You can take care of that with Ice, slurpee or icees. If you have any question just ask.

My piercer told me the opposite.. Don't eat or drink frozen things. Stick with warm liquids.

This is to keep your tongue from contracting, and making it very sore once the blood starts running through it again. I followed his advice, and drank warm liquids and didn't put ice in my drinks for 2 days. By the third day, all the swelling and pain was completely gone.

When I ate my first sandwich that was a different story.. Glad I have dental insurance. :p

Never heard that before. But it does have truth to it.

Has anyone else heard that?

Why don't we just talk about body mods in general? I've been getting addicted to Body Modification Ezine(http://www.bme.freeq.com/). I'm personally going to never get anything pierced just because I don't want to go through the hassel of having to maintain it. But with tattoos, you get them once, take care of them for 2-3 weeks then the upkeep is minimal. I'm going to get my back finished off this summer then move to the chest. All over in a few years and all can easily be hidden under a regular, short-sleeve tshirt. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/angel.gif.fa7795fff6653f4381ba158c55a48b74.gif

EDIT: The BME website has some very graphic pictures of proceedures which may offend or sicken some individuals. This includes piercings in various regions of the body, surgeries designed to alter body parts, and activities which could be could result in extreme disfiguration or even death. Don't inadvertently click the link unless you are sure you are comfortable with the community of EXTREME body modifications.

Whats the point of doing it if you are gonna hide it?

In reference to this, I don't have any great desire to show off my tattoo(s) because they are a sort of spiritual healing/marking a time in my life thing for me. They are comparable to photos you keep in your wallet; you wouldn't exactly go to Kinko's and enlarge them so you could put them on a tshirt. They are personal to me and my evolution as a person, a reminder of where I was and where I'm going.

If someone else feels the need to show off their tattoos for whatever reason, more power to them. I only show mine when I feel a need to emphasize that part of my personality or want to remember the event/time I recieved the tat.

I totally forgot about the more extreme body mods on that site. Sorry about doing that. I posted a warning above to notify people that this site is not for the faint hearted but is a very helpful tool if anyone chooses to enter the community. There are numerous testimonials on tattooing/piercing, FAQs on various mods that are being performed today, and a good amount of experts who discuss the topics.

I recommend the site to obtain more information if anyone desires to pursue some soft of modification in the future. It's better than ending up with an infection or badly done tattoo. That is the one and only reason I posted the link, to introduce people into the community and be able to obtain information before they do something that could otherwise permanently affect their lives.

I remember reading about a set of twins that had a weird thing for body mutation. one cut off one of his arms and had it sewn on his brother under one of HIS arms so one had 3 arms and 1 had just 1. He also got a section of his brothers finger (the one with 3 arms) so he had an enlongated finger. It was pretty disgusting.
