Anyone have experience with Type Rs in a sealed enclosure?

Right now I have it in a ported enclosure with about 350 watts running to it, I know it's low for a Type R but that's all I needed at the time. Right now it's in a 1.72cu ported enclosure tuned to ~31hz.

I just got an amp that would give the sub 800 watts(MRP-M850). According to Alpine's spec sheet, for a sealed setup .7-1cu is optimal. They recommend a 13x13x12.5 box which would be .85cu. Any idea how this would sound, anyone have a sealed setup with a type r?

I'm guessing the SQ will be better with sealed and response will be better compared to my old box. I just want to make sure before I go out and buy a box.

i used to have 2 type rs in a sealed box. it sounded alright. I reccomend staying ported cause thats what is meant for the type r.

i had 8 rtype in a 11 cube sealed box and it sucks compared to all of my ported boxes

i put a 15" R in a 2.5cuft sealed box off of about 1000rms and it seemed muffled compared to the ported box its in now. I forgot the volume but it is tuned to 32hz.

The previous generation, sure.

The new ones really are meant to be ported drivers, they sound like *** to begin with so sealing them just results in quieter...sonic ***.

my friend had a pair of the older type r's in 1 cube each sealed box and it was very nice.

I have used the sealed and ported. Sealed, even with 800 watts, did not have much punch, and the sound quality was really not much better than ported. Go with 2 cu ft tuned at 32hz

I tried to seal one on 1200rms and it was drowned out by the front stage. Then I went 2.75 @ 37 and it was the loudest single 12 I've ever heard

1200rms on a type r!!!!! i had no ideal they could take that. i bet that thing gets stupid loud on that much power.
