Anyone have experience with DLS Ultimate?

Hello all,

Does anyone around here have experience with DLS Ultimate speakers, preferably the 2-way or 3-way Component systems?

I'm curious because I remember hearing a 3-way DLS system years ago and it absolutely blew me away and I'm wondering if other have the same impressions. Also, with the Neo magnets on the 6.5" mids, they will be a much easier fit into my front door locations ( as well as kicks if I decide to go that way. )

Also, the midrange is a very good fit for my dash location as I have a good amount of width for the mounting, but very little depth, maybe 2"-2.5".

Anyway, thanks for any info that you can offer. I don't want to shell out $475 for the 3-way components without getting some good advice first, and I've really been thinking about piece by piece putting together the Hertz Mille 3-way or possibly Morel Elate/Esotec Dynaudio/ CDT Gold for my front stage.

Thanks for any help.

The Dls are very nice. Warm sounding components. But as you know they will only sound as good as your preparation for them out of all the ones you mentioned I'd go with the dynaudio. But there's a heafty price tag in them They will be my next set hopefully I'll be calling my rep soon

Thanks mylows.

My doors have all of the small spaces filled with expansion foam filler, they have a layer of MLV, and then the outer skin, the inner skin, and the door panels are covered 60%-80% with 80mil sound dampening. So, they have a good foundation.

I'm actually kinda surprised that the DLS's have a warm sound, since the midbass and mid are both aluminum cones. I'm pretty sure the tweeter is silk, tho.

I haven't heard the Dynaudios, but if they are anything on par with the Hertz Mille's, then they have to be incredible. The only problem, of course, if the price.

One thing that I do really want to focus on is a component set that will give me good midbass reproduction up front. I want to be able to cross them at 80Hz 12db/octave or 18 db/octave and have them be able to handle bass heavy tracks and have the impact to match up well with my sub.

And then, of course, the midrange is going to be an important component. I've got a half dozen great tweeters already, and I have no doiubt that the tweeters that come with any of these sets are also incredible, but my point is that I already have good sound quality above 4000Hz, so that isn't going to be a big change. Getting a better midbass and adding a really great mid is the primary focus.

With regards to the DLS, do you think if I was going to hold off getting the Hertz or Audison or Dynaudio until next year that the DLS would be a good SQ set that I could use until then and then sell them for a reasonable price to help cover the upgrade?

Another set that I've actually looked at is the new Precision Power PPI with the yellow cone midbass and midrange and the AMT Pleated Diaphragm Tweeter. Its actually really inexpensive and I've had several people tell me that the sound is better than most would expect for the price. As a temporary set, this one would probably be ideal because its cheap, but even if its only a temporary solution, I don't want it if its junk. I have CDT CL-61 components up front at the moment. Always liked the CDT tweeters, but not that enamored with the mid-bass 6.5".

Thanks for your help!

The cdt sets are nice as well but you need to go with the Es models to get good midbass. I had the rs6 I'm Mids because my last truck needed a slimmer mid. Sounded great. But lacked in the lower end. So I changed them to the es6

Mids. Way better
