its by dalton trumbo. ever seen the video for metallica's "one" , those are clips from the movie that was made based on the book. Guy gets all his limbs , face , everything blown off in a war. He's a live torso heap , but can't react to anything , just a living soul trapped in a lump of useless flesh. Very good book.
