anyone ever use welding.....

some use it, no its not better... it has a lower strand count and is harder to work with. with the prices of Knu KLM, your better off just using it

This means nothing when it comes to power travel though the wire. 1/0 is 1/0 rather is Kicker Hyperflex or Welding wire.

All the higher strand count does is makes the wire a lot more flexable to bend and contort for tight spaces.

There is no difference in power transfer from Welding Wire to Knu or any other power wire brand.

Aluminum is your best power transfer/less resistance wire but good luck on finding that stuff cheap.

He is correct though Knu KLM is pretty cheap right now wich is suprising since copper prices have slightly gone up.

this ^^
and you don't want aluminum wire. it causes loose connections over time.

This is sort of true, But thats if you are one of us who likes to change systems very 4 months.

The aluminum wire is very brittle, BUT if you dont move the wire all the time its fine.

I have aluminum welding cable installed in my pop's truck and its been going strong for the last 3 years.

well i already bought the 1/0 welding cable so its going in the car i guess unless i got some aluminum wire pretty cheap then id be selling my copper...but i bbought it for 47$ for like 25--27feet so it seemed like a good deal...wait i think it was 25FT

not being argumentative, but isn't the same size aluminum wire rated lower than it's copper counterpart? (i.e. Knu KLMX rated @ 250a VS Knu Kolossus rated @ 300a)

the way i understand it is, aluminum is a good conductor but not as good as copper. aluminum is used more in bldgs and such as it's cheaper than copper and more cost effective to use a slightly larger aluminum wire vs paying for a copper wire.

thats the way i understand it. i could be wrong.

Not sure about Knu stuff I never used it. Aluminum does not heat up as fast as Copper.

Very rare cases to find Aluminum power cable to begin with. You will see it in a lot of Voice Coils of high end subs.

I do not think you are being Argumentative, You're asking a question //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I took some small electronic courses many years ago so I am no expert, But I did built a C02 laser from scratch! ****er went for miles too.

Printed my own circuit board ect.

Anyway back on topic!

It does not really matter what wire was intended for as long as it is able to handle the current you are trying to pass. Welding wire is as vague as audio wire. There are good and bad in each type. There are stiff, low strand count versions. There are flexible, high strand count versions. You should find the one that works best for you, without regard for the marketing designations.

use the COPPER welding cable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

18 feet of my 100% copper welding cable has a resistance of .001ohm
