anyone ever put an 18(or wall) in a standard cab 2002+ ram?

amp is under the passanger seat with some ghetto temp wiring till i figure out what im going to do about this 18 issue lol, box was meant to be temporary from the begginning, i had a sheet of mdf sitting in my parents garage that they said had to go, and i didnt have room in mine, so i built that box. and as far as space this may sound like a really stupid question but i gotta ask... you did take out that factory plastic tray that comes in it right? i took out the tray, the tool box, the little hanger things, everything but the center seatbelt(which is coming out for the next build... dont need any passangers in the middle anyways)

kept the middle seatbelt for when (not that often) the baby seat goes in. yes, took the storage box and all the clips out. taking the metal for the seatbelt would save a lot of space.

I suggest running 3-4 10's in your truck.

I built a 4 10" box for a local guy with a Rumble Bee, and it slams. 140db or better and it sounds good. He is using 4 JL W3's and a old school Kicker ZR1000. Ended up with 4 cubes after displacement and fired the port toward the driver side.

I would love to hear some real subs and a bit of power in a setup like this.

as much as i'd love to do that, i mean 4 hd3c 10's or sx's or bl's would be sick, but like all builds this will have a relative budget, i can spend 750$ and get the aq 18 and aq2200 for less than 750... however, 4 hd3c 10s and 2 aq2200 strapped would be more like 1800$ not to mention the fact that i have 135amp alt stock and with 2000 watts i can get away with some deka 9A31's but with 4000watts probably going to end up doing 250amp alt... even more batteries.... its just not economical not to mention 4 of any of those off 4000 watts is getting into unbearable territory. also... 4 10's is 1240cm^2 a single 18 is 1210cm^2, not a whole lot of difference, the only difference in fact would be the power. and if that were the case i'd run a BTL 18 off a single aq3500 and it would be 600-700$ cheaper than the 4-10s idea

so for shits and giggles, i was graphing the mach 5 IXL 18, and i read in many different places that people aren't using this subwoofer because it requires SOO much space... well... i graphed it on WinISD, and in 4.5 cubes (127.35L) tuned to 31hz, it has + 3dbs from 35hz-50hz, and doesnt drop -3db untill around 27hz... maybe its just me but i would think this would be a desirable curve... and if your one of those people searching for that flat response you can tune 4.5 cubes to 22hz have a flat response down to about 29hz and a -3db at around 24 (not a whole lot of music below 30, ill take my 3db gain from 35-50) but still

someone please correct me, i live by the graph, so if theres some reason a graph with the correct information can be wrong please tell me.

I wish i could take a **** screen shot to show the graph lol

It's going in a vehicle, the T/S parameters are usually different than they are on paper. I wouldn't pay attention to the graph in WinISD, as soon as you put it in the vehicle that graph becomes irrelevant. It's a fun tool yes but it's not accurate for auto sound.

i always thought the TS parameters applied to the driver free of the environment (like no cabin gain or frequency response influence) and don't get me wrong i know that the frequency response because of things like cabin gain changes as soon as you put it in a vehicle... but the TS parameters stay the same i thought?

and i just use it for a low end extension estimate, if i'm comparing 2 drivers and driver "A" won't play below 40hz, and driver "B" doesnt drop off untill 25hz... if they are going in the same vehicle i can assume that driver "B" is going to have a better low end response than driver "A"
