Anyone ever heard of Sunfire subs?

If your subwoofer puts out less than 1000 Watts, it’s not an HRS Series subwoofer.

I really hope they know that subwoofers don't put out watts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i have the super junior 8"s at my house in the HT and they sound extremely good...although not sure on how much power its getting..i think one 8" is a sub and the other is a passive radiator not sure though

Im too lazy too look it up, perhaps the subwoofer they are talking about is a powered unit. That is much more common in home audio than it is in car audio.
Its still a pretty stupid statement to make though. Do they have alot of copy-cat subwoofers out there trying to look like a Sunfire?

Yes as suggested earlier, Sunfire has been a fairly famous sub maker in the HT world for many years now. If you haven't heard of them, you probably aren't into HT much.

My guess is the sub in question would have a rather low fs to perform well in a car. I wouldn't purchase it unless I was looking to add it to my HT system.

Yes, TC made pretty much all of Sunfire's drivers for years, but haven't recently, since they went out of business. They are definitely high quality and great SQ, would love one myself.

Subwoofers do put out watts....acoustic watts, to be specific. Watt is simply a measure of power.

Anyways, it is probably made by TC. There isn't really anything special about it over what you would find in a few different drivers today. However, at $75 it is probably a good deal....would need pictures to judge it correctly.

sunfire woofers were designed by tc sounds... and up until about 3-4 years ago, a majority of the expensive ones were made in san diego too.

background: when bob got started with his company, he asked people what could not be done... one common answer was a small subwoofer that puts out good bass. He said, ok i'm gonna do just that and that's pretty much how sunfire got started. He commissioned thilo to design a much higher excursion woofer than was previously available, mind you this was some ~15-20 years ago. He then designed an amplifier that was small and put out a lot of power. He put them into a small box with a passive radiator and the sunfire was born. For the time, it was pretty incredible because it made as much bass as subwoofer systems many times larger.
