Well I just recently blew a 12" IDMax and looks like repair will take a while so I was looking for a cheap sub to carry me through with the same box.

Found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160039576824&rd=1&rd=1

Was looking for something different, and cheap just found that browsing ebay and thought I'd give it a try. I don't like the single 4ohm VC though, will only be pushing ~500wrms. Looks pretty solid construction wise, and if I don't like it I'll build a small sealed HT box and use it as its meant to be.

Its a sunfire sub. Heres a link to the sunfires site:

Looks like a pretty solid sub to me. Anyone know if its based off of another sub's motor? Or anyone ever heard one HT or 12v wise?

Just looking at the build quality, looks pretty solid. Big motor, nice basket.... Guess you gotta let us know how they sound //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Yeah Bob founded Sunfire but sold it a few years ago.

As for the subs. In the home, they had very good output and awesome SQ in tiny enclosures. No idea how well they would work in a car.... If the enclosure was right I would guess they would perform quite well.

The one I won is a Bob Carver Signature EQ. It'll be going in 1.5cu' sealed pushing about 500wrms, it definetly looks like a solid sub. The HT powered setups are supposed to have amazing sq for the price and you usually cant find one used for under $1000.

Well Finally got her today.

Pretty solid sub. Gets LOW with ease and plays fast beats without too much problem. Not quite as crisp or loud as the IDmax but she isn't too quiet either. Its only getting ~500wrms @4ohm compared to the max getting ~1200wrms @1ohm. Heres some comparison pics to show its size vs the max:

I've only listened to a dozen or so songs on it. Wish I could give it alittle more and alittle cleaner power. But since its only a single 4ohm vc I can only give it ~500wrms of dirty monoblock D class power. Overall its seems like a great sub, especially for the price I got it. Wish I new someone around here with an amp that could give it 1000wrms+ but I don't, and won't be purchasing an amp just for this sub.

Oh forgot to mention, I recently found out it has just over 1" of one way xmax and its not coming even close to that with only 500wrms, so looks like this sub is capable of alot at high power.

yeah, and allthough the magnet is only double stacked as compared to the triple max, its much wider, and the sub its self is about as heavy as the max. Really wishing it was atleast dvc to give me some more options. The surround on it seems really stiff for a high excursion sub though. I think it would work as a real nice platform for a recone to make a hybrid sub as the motor looks and sound real solid, but I'm gonna leave it as is for now.

I'm very satisfied with this sub for only paying $115 shipped, and it will serve its purpose well as a temp replacement for the max.

Also played with it alittle inside free air to see what kind of excursion I could get. And at about 350wrms free air I wasn't seeing much excursion as compared to nearly reaching the limits of the max free air at about 400wrms. But the movement around 25 hz and lower was amazing.
