anyone ever built a false floor in a grand marquis or crown vic?

I am looking for some instructions on how to go about building a false floor in the trunk of my grand marquis to cover up the well in the bottom of the trunk. If someone has done this type of build will you please share with me or if not just some basic guidlines as to how I could go about designing one. Thanks

i have never done a false floor and will actually start my first one soon. But i think to get more help perhaps it is better if you have a picture. Even if someone who has never done a false floor in the same car, they might have more experience with false floors and can give you some advice if you can give them a visual of what you're talking about. Just a suggestion

i would say get a piece of thick wood and cut it to fit the bottom .. and build up from there ...

alot of time you can pull the carpet out and use it as a template, I did this in my current car just to make a floor out of 3/4 mdf, it only had a small peice of cardboard type stuff warped to shit covering the spare and the rest was just metal

it all depends on if you want it to look 100%professional or about 80. I had a simalar issue with my caprice.I pulled up the carpet and took measures. Then I built a box with a door. It didn't fill the entire space( 1 or 2 inches of space left on each side) I filled the spaces with yellow foam and remessured the carpet. I laid it out and cut the carpet 3 sides according to where the door opening would be. Nailed carpet to the door and grinded the heads down level to the wood. Then I nailed a hookscrew with a keyring attached as a handle. I wish I still had the car so I could show you. If you are good at reassembling carpet it would look great. I'm not and it still looked pretty good
