Anyone else go to an "Eckerd Youth Alternatives" Wilderness camp?

I spent 18 months at camp "e-ten-etu" from age 15-16. One of the best, yet hardest things ive done in my life. For those of you who dont know what that is, its an outdoor living "treatment" camp for teens going down the wrong path. When i went in i was robbing people, fighting, skipping school, destroying ****, etc etc. I was just an ******* in general. Did 18 months and came out 60 lbs lighter and a new man mentally. This was 6-7 years ago now, doesnt seem like that long. I read on the news that the states funding cuts are shutting down these camps for kids, it really is pitiful. This is a kids last chance often before the court takes action on sending you to prison or a detention center.

Reconnecting with alot of the people i was in there with. Its weird how people that have had such a huge impact on your life can just be shut down because the state feels like it can spend money on better things. So did anyone else go to anything like this?

I went packing 118 miles over 18 days in the south carolina foothills, and canoed down the suwannee river in florida 140 miles in the middle of january, lol.

Wouldn't doubt if mothers of america have something to due with it being shut down. I know that's why military boot camp is a lot less "stressful" than it used to be. It's a shame good things like this are being shut down. Never went to a civilian "fixer" place like this, but if it was anything like marines boot camp, I know that straightened my *** up when I was in a slump.

i went to a bootcamp called midcourse correction youth challenege camp it was not the most fun ive ever had but it straightened my *** out
