Anyone Built a Custom Ported Box for an Alpine X-W12D4?

I've searched this forum and can't find any posts about a custom ported enclosure for an Alpine X-W12D4, but I'm hoping someone has and can tell me how it sounds and what specs you used? I built a box with Alpine's recommended specs and it just doesn't sound as good as I think it should. My current box is: External Dimensions: 14” x 23.5” x 14”, Gross Internal Volume: 1.98 ft3, Vent Area (W x H): 15.0 in2 (3.75” x 4”), Vent Length: 18”, Vent Displacement: 0.21 ft3, Net Internal Volume (Vb): 1.65 ft3, F3, Ripple, Fb: 28 Hz, 5.7 dB, 33 Hz.

I don’t run slot ports but it seems small to me. I like using Aero’s for the space savings and swapping easily to change tuning. 1.6 after displacement seems small for a ported 12. I see Alpines recommendations but I’d like to see 2 cubes after displacement. Also, like someone stated earlier, this sub isn’t as efficient so I’d throw more power on it.

Port is way too small and net volume is too small.

You should be using 16-18sq in of port area per cubic foot of net volume with that sub and around 2 cubic feet. Tuning is fine at 33hz

That sub requires a huge box tuned stupid low to get it flattened out. You will have a big boomy sound on the low end in 2 cubes and anything over 30 hz, which some people actually like. I used mine sealed. To flatten it out In a ported Box, it needed something stupid, like 4 cubes at 22 hz.

Here’s for anyone else looking to build a ported box for the Alpine XW12D4. It sounds damn good. 2.15 Cu. Ft. net, 33.75” in.2 port (33.5” long), tuned @ 31 hz. Designed by @shredder2.
