well... in my case I get a guaranteed draw for the first 9 months. P&C policies pay 8-10% commission and life policies pay 50% commission. I am only licensed in Minnesota for now. I had 60 hours of classroom time and then I had to take the 2 tests. It wasn't to hard and it cost about $450 for the classes and tests
not too much really. I got hooked up with a pretty good guy that doesnt have time to meet with all of his clients so I get to take care of a lot of those people. Plus I have lived a few places in MN and I know quite a few people so its mostly people I know or leads.
this site will get you hooked up with the right classes (I assume dfw is Dallas/ Fort Worth). Kaplan was the school I used and it was pretty good actually. It looks like it might be a little bit more expensive in TX but its worth it.
i'm a cat manager for one of the "state" companies, all lines certified...thought about being an agent for awhile, but just a tough job getting and keeping that clientele...people have to believe in the produce and they have to like you, they dont like me...
