So i'm about half way through installing my first stereo- iv'e deadened the doors and got my components in. I plan on building a box and installing amps later today.

However, I have no idea how to set the gains correctly. I've thought of using the "ear" method, but id' like them to be set so I won't risk damaging any of my equipment. Even though it's rather cheap (type r, cadence cwm6's, and a cadence txa6004) I want them to perform at their maximum potential.

I was wondering if anybody in the Los Angeles area has an oscilloscope that can help me set my gains correctly. I have a dmm, but I've heard I need a 4 ohm resistor in order to set the gains using this which I have no idea how to do.

Please let me know if you can help me out with this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Santa monica area...near mar vista if you know where that is.

I'd prefer somewhere close...I just got the car about a week ago and i'm new to driving lol.

Yea, I was super anxious to put my stereo in : ).

I probably won't be able to meet up with anyone, just thought I would ask to see if there was a chance.

Still trying to figure this out. I'm looking in to the dmm method again, but i'm not sure how to do it with the dummy load.

Thanks svtlightning btw, I appreciate the offer but unfortunately i'm not able to drive that far out : (.

Yea, thanks man. If worst comes to worst, i'll let you know again.

I'm goin to try the dmm method. I've already read all the tutorials and stuff.

Jasonpaul, who is on the caraudioforum.com forum and works at cadence, was the one that told me that. He said it is because "Amplifiers that do not have a regulated output can not be measured with out a load present".

Not sure what that means...lol but i'm thinking i'll try it anyways?

I heard that too!

lol...

Yea i'm really not sure now. Might just go with the "ears" if I can't do the dmm. I'm just a bit worried that I won't be able to hear the clipping since i'm not accustomed to the sound of a sub yet and hence set my gain too high.
