Anybody want to know a secret?

The W3 and up are US made still. And if you haven't seen where they are made you should. If you are paying $1000 for one you don't know how to shop around or haggle.

JL like DD they are always the subs others are compared to if you haven't noticed. That's saying a lot for a 12 year old design

Also just to add I know DD or JL is not the end all be all but they are the best I have ever used and I've used a lot over the last 20 plus years. Had my first JL sub in 95 and first DD sub in 98. For some reason I always end up coming back to them.

Hey...JL and DD don't belong in the same sentence bro.

I'll let massivespl finish you off.

Actually they do. Both lead the industry, both have very state of the art facilities, both do home and car audio, both are used world wide and win, both have been around a long time, neither need a forum to sell products, both are protected.

They do have differences. JL is sold online and farmed out. JL has a stronger dealer network and have more product available at any given time. DD has built to order and custom options.

I welcome your circle jerk buddy.

If there's that much room to haggle on a new sub they are obviously way to overpriced

It looks like DD has already worked around the size classes or I don't think they would have said this.

True Size Carbon Fiber Blend Cone (CFB) - True size cone geometry allows for more cone area and bass output from a given box size while staying in designated size classes. The CFB composition employs a potent carbon fiber based cocktail to give you the highest strength to weight ration of any pulp cone in the industry.

So if the larger cone area is still allowed to be used in competition then next year you can expect every other comp brand to do the exact same thing as long as it's within specs to keep subs in the competitions

Sundown cost more now. Even the made in China stuff. People tend to overlook that OBVIOUS part
Why do you always point out the China part? Who the **** cares. Its capitalism. As long as you have a rigorous QC it could be made in ******* Haiti or Somalia and be fine. As for price, every company as something that is overpriced compared to others... You are so annoying sometimes.

I'm interested to see how they pull this off though. They're fighting physics pretty hard here.

Why do I mention it? It's simple, cost for product. High quantity drives that cost down even more.

I can't believe that had to be said.

That's why I'm annoying I guess.

And how is this fighting physics?

I retract the physics statement because I had an idea in my head of what this true size cone was, but then after thinking about it again, I got confused. Therefore I'm not entirely sure what/how it works. My previous statement was based on my old idea.

Quantity doesn't always drive cost down... I can't believe THAT had to be said. Apple is a prime example of this. Most popular phone and own a huge chunk of the laptop industry, yet they cost 50%-100% more than its Android and Windows counterparts and give way, way, way worse performance per dollar (Except iPhone for the most part).

Go on alibaba and look at unit cost per quantity. Now you can full associate that with no cookie cutter but it still holds true.

I'm not getting into the apple vs PC debate. I don't have time for that.

What the hell was that supposed to tell me? I found nothing relevant. And I wasn't getting into that debate (although I can and will destroy Apple lovers), I was just simply stating quantity does not always drive price down. Thus disproving your original statement.

So you think Apple pays $500 per phone? Lol. $10 at most.
