When it says vent diameter, its talking about the diameter of a tube vent. It has nothing to do with a slot vent.

Yes, but it would be easier to just use a slot port calculator if you dont know what you are doing... But just as long as you have the correct port length and area, then you can basically make the port any shape. To find the port area find the area of a circle with the diameter of whatever the calculator is telling you, then figure out what size vent you would need (heightx width) to get that area. Really much easier to use a proper calculator though.
