Anybody mess with vinyl (not only for DJing/turntablism purposes)

I'm trying to get into the vinyl game & am finna buy a table. So far it's looking like this table.

I remember the music library thread you guys' boasts of thousands of records...

...what do you use to play them on? Turn-table, cartridge, phono stage, stylus, etc...how much you paid for it?

When I buy old-school music (50s-70s), I realized that CD versions are usually compilations. For example, of the Motown artists, I only have collections like "The Best of Motown", "Motown Singles", etc...I'm talking about the 60s Motown, like Jr. Walker & the All-Stars, Martha & the Vandellas, etc...where a typical song is less than 2 & a half minutes.

So I just wanted to see what you guys use (and what types of music you have on vinyl).

I would have recommended different tables for audiophile purposes...Thorens, Rega, Moth Audio, Music Hall, Linn, and Pro-ject all make solid 'tables for people that don't care about DJing. Grado, Sumiko, and Goldring are all makers of excellent budget carts.

For strictly listening, the phono preamp you use can also make a difference in the final SQ...

For $204, you can get a very respectable lightly used Thorens TD160 or entry-level Music Hall offering...with most likely a better cartridge than what comes supplied with the AT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The MH MMF-5 is where it's at, and is something I'm saving up for (the 'table in my sig)...but at $500, it's a steep investment for a vinyl virgin...probably the best value in a current production model, though. Tons of cool things not usually found for that price point.
