good sq subs, middle of the line loudness....decent subs, but there is better out there.

Originally posted by Biohazard my friend has that series....wow....very good sq, IMO....
My brother also has a pair of them. He only has a jl 500.1 running to them and they sound great. Awesome sq and get loud enough for him. They aren't overpowering loud but have top notch sq.

Im currently running that sub..and I love it. Great SQ . They can pack a punch too. The only downside to them is their price. But as all eclipse products you will not be disappointed in spending the little extra $$$.

I had the sub in a sealed and ported box (30Hz) and I definetly prefered the ported because of the extra db's a port can give you....the sub still maintains very nice SQ when you port between mid 20's and low 30's.

But if your $$$ orriented then I would recommend looking at a Image Dynamics IDQ's

.

Heres the website for eclipse:

http://www.eclipse-web.com - for specs and everything on the sub.

Do the subs distort at high volume. I am looking for a pair of subs or a sub that will sound good and clear and not distort at high volumes. I have 1400watts rms to work with.

I know the sub is speced at 500W rms, but I have ran it 700W w/o any problems....

The woofer never distorted at higher volumes and handled anything you can through at it.

But with that amp.....did you ever considering gettign a single eclipse titanium. I think you would be alot more satisfied with two of those. Run them at 700W a piece in a nicely ported box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif That would be sweet. And if you like playin it at higher volumes the titaniums would make you more happy.

But if you don't have the extra $100 per sub (atleast) , then the Aluminums do great. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
