Anybody know how to get speaker grills off a 96 camry?

Pics in a few min...gotta eat lol....BTW nice steering wheel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I'll be watching this one -- i can't figure out how to get mine out of my '99 Camry either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I'm pretty sure it involves removing the entire rear deck :/

On my 92, you have to pop out the rear seat, unscrew some things, and basically the whole rear deck comes out. It doesn't take that long though.

Yah i'm lazy on the pics but there is nothing visible...no screws, no screw covers, no latches, no hidden latches under the cover. It's glued down pretty tight, i already cracked my front door one to get it off lol and don't want to reck these but need to get it off so i can make room for my sub box lol. Was just wondering if anyone had experience with the same model car...if pics are absolutley neccessary i will get some in the morning lol.

Hmmmm... you mean like all the carpet and stuff up there comes off with grills attached? There are some screw covers behind the seat well below the grills...but i couldn't get them off. Will have to check it out tommorow.

Take bottom part of the rear seat and pop it off...There should be some latches that will pop off. Once you get that out, there should be some bolts on each side holding in one more piece of the seat per side. Then fold the top part of the seat down...there should be some screws there to unscrew (probably covered with plastic caps). You also have to pop off the center brake light cover off, and undo a few screws on the brake light. That's how mine goes basically...but keep in mind i have a 92.

the whole rear deck comes off. i hav a 93, you need to fold down the seat, take out those screws, then take out the section that covers the seat belt mechanism, and then they just pop off... also take out the 3rd brake light =P

^^^ there are 2 screws when you fold the seat down. to take off the top brake light cover, push it in then up. then unscrew the 2 screws holding down the whole brake light mount. Then take off the whole deck.

I hate having to do all of that. NO rear speakers fixed that prob though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Thanks for help....It doesn't sound that bad besides that tail lights out anyways, gives me an excuse to take the whole thing off lol. Is there any clearence on those grills?? becuase i have to set my speakers up about 1/2 inch higher (will be replacing soon too but will worry about that then) and i would prefer to be able to keep them coverd by the grill.

Sounds like what I had to do to get my rear deck out in my Prizm. You have to remove the bottom of the rear seat (the bit you actually sit on) then you have to take the upright part of the rear seat out (the part behind your back) and after you've done all of that you have to disassemble the third brake light and associated mount.

Once all of that is accomplished the whole rear deck, including the covers for the factory speakers, slides out in a lateral motion towards the front of the car....be mindful of the clips that attach it just under the back window (if your Camry is the same as my Prizm which is nothing more than a Corolla in a poor disguise)

As I have a '95 Geo Prizm (same thing as a '95 Corolla for the most part) and not a Camry I do not know if the method would be the same but in my car (and many other mid-90's Toyotas I have seen so it may be the same for you) there are two pressure clips on the underside of the seat immediately behind the flat part of the seat mount that goes down and meets the floor.

(Imagine yourself sitting in the backseat and the flat part I speak of is the bit that would be behind your legs if your feet were on the floor)

If that is how yours comes out it only requires a bit of pull upwards to make those pressure clips release and the seat then comes out pretty easily //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
