I have a buddy who is going to paint my truck, but is out of town so I can't ask him what type of paint to get. I'm going single stage, should I get acrylic enamel or acrylic urethane? What are the differences? Is one harder to spray then the other? Thanks guys.

Not sure why you would use a single stage BC/CC is superior in every way to single stage but if your gonna use single stage the urethane is hardened and stands up better to U.V rays therefore is less prone to weathering it wont fade as quickly and will be less prone to rusting. They both spray about the same you just get a much better and longer lasting finish with urethane over enamel IMO. Sherwin williams makes a good single stage called dimension single stage 5.0 one of the better single stages out there thats not really high priced. Dupont makes a good product as well but in most cases it's fairly expensive.

false

Great thanks for the advice. Urethane it is. I only paid $200 for the truck and probably won't have it longer than the enamel would last, so I just want the cheapest paint to make it look ok, the old paint was flaking off, so anything is better than that.

Ok, I ordered the urethane paint from paintforcars.com. I orders the sapphire blue metallic paint. I have no idea what I got, but this is by far the worst I have ever seen. The paint is flexible! Like latex from Lowes. It came out of the gun sapphire blue, and dried on the truck a dark purple. WTF. I know that enamel dries hard but have never used urethane. I suppose that it is not supposed to be flexible like latex wall paint right? Just a little note. Never buy paint from these people. I figured a $35 gallon of paint would be somewhat ok, but this is horrible. The whole truck is nothing but orange peel. The paint sprayed out in strings like a ball of matted up hair. I just don't understand how they could make a paint this pad. Sorry for the ranting and raving, just a little P.O.d

hate to say it, but you get what you pay for.

maybe your 35$ paint was made to be rolled on?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

that sucks, how many gallons did it take?

I don't know much about painting cars but i got a compressor and some paint sprayers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The tech sheet gave the settings for various types of guns, so I don't think it was supposed to be rolled on. I painted a small truck without the inside of the bed and barely made it with a gallon. There are some thin spots on it. 1 gallon should have been more than enough to do this.

definately should've been. somebody's got a heavy trigger finger...

or you sprayed from too far away and most of the paint was just floating around instead of hitting your product
