anybody know about old-school autotek amps?

This one in particular, cant seem to find specs online and the specs autotek gave me dont really seem right unless i wrote them down wrong..

its a autotek 300X Street machine

Any guesses? And how much do you think its worth?

Street machine was their lower end line and iirc it is 75x2 at 4 ohms.

As far as what its worth thats tough to answer cuz its worth different amounts to different people. I would say in the neighborhood of 50 or so. maybe a little more/less.

ya, this is what the guy at autotek told me but im not sure if he told me right or if i wrote it down wrong or something cuz it doesnt sound right.

2 X 75 @ 4

Mono bridged it does 150 @ 4

they said to only run it down to 2 ohm stereo and not below 4 ohm bridged, but it being an older autotek im sure it can run lower then that.

But shouldnt it be more like this..

2x75@4ohms

2x150@2ohms

1x300@4ohms

The street machines did not double their power. I think it was like 100 or so at 2 ohms. And I would definitely not run it below 2 ohms stereo.

i didnt mean double its power, but why is it rated at 300 watts if it wont even do half that? Shouldnt it do 300 watts at 4 ohm bridged?

That would mean it doubles its power from 4 ohms to 2 ohms. It doesnt. I believe they are tightly regulated. The mean machines from that generation didnt even double power from 4 ohms to 2 ohms. And the 300 watts is im sure some random max number

hmm, well sht, that kinda sucks. So i guess the specs i have for it are pretty true then. Do you think i will see any gain from 4 - 2 ohm? I mean, knowing the era of this amp what would you say the specs would be?

Yes you will see a jump from 4 to 2 and its going to be a little underrated also. Will you be able to hear a difference? Maybe, maybe not but Autoteks have always had a little different way of rating their amps. It is a good little amp for what it is though. I was a huge fan of the mean machines and even the bass thrust series that were before that.

No problem. I wouldnt hesitate to run it, just dont run it below two ohms and it will last.

I just don't remember that particular amp, but if it was made with the old "bass thrust series" amps I would say it was a goodun'
