Anybody ever done a spare tire sub box??

I'm slowly working on a SQ budget build for my DD. So far i have a good deck and 2 nice amps with serious SQ capabilities. But i wanna keep all my trunk space if possible. I was thinking i could maybe do 2 8's or 10's in the spare tire area and just pick up some heavy duty grilles from PE to cover them. I don't care too much for flashiness , just want good sound and all of my grocery space. Anybody ever done one or know how to do it correctly??

that would probably be a good idea, one thing that i have see done is to build the box to have the subs under the level of the floor of the trunk, then have an expanded steel plate that was covered in tweed that matched the color of the carpet in the trunk. the steel kept the subs from getting smashed, the tweed hid everything and it actually lets air pass through very well so it doesnt hurt the output.

but that depends on what subs you run and how deep your tire well is
