its terrible how often a tv channel that was responsible for making hip hop what it is, is also responsible for embarrassing the **** out of hip hop as a whole. There is so much more good hip hop than the people included on the list here. Eminem can rhyme but refuses to showcase that anymore unless he is on a track with someone that can rhyme with him see Bad Meets Evil and any track he is on with Slaughterhouse. Jada lyrically pees on the majority of that list. Any of you that says other wise has not listened to an entire album of his. Joe Budden as a solo artist should be somewhere near the top of that list provided it is post 2000. After Jay-Z mis-managed the start of his carer in 2003 he has made nothing short of phenomenal music every release. Most artists (Jay-z and Eminem included) are said to have made worse music as their career progresses. Joe Budden on the other had has grown as an artist lyrically with every release. I have had people tell me that after listening to Mood Muzik 4 they could not go back and listen to the others because its like taking a step backwards. Now if we are talking about influence on hop hop as a whole then Black Thought and the roots should no doubt be listed here. They have done more for hip hop than everyone on that list combined. For the one who referenced Lupe Fiasco. I used to love him until he released Lasers. Now i know the story behind it that Atlantic picked the track listing however he has still promoted this album and it is ******* terrible. He made one great (Food and Liquor) and one classic album (The Cool) and now one terrible album in Lasers. Luda can rhyme but doesnt have **** to say worth listening so I have passed on every release of his since Chicken and Beer. Never been a fan of the Game as for me Crooked I has represented the west since Dre stopped making music. Talib Kweli has also had more influence on hip hop than anyone on that list despite being underground for the most part. Lyrically he has never slouched and has continued to make good albums year after year. I hate Kanye but I cannot deny that he has had an influence on hip hop since he showed up in 2002. He can rhyme a little and his production has been good all along. J. Cole is the future of solo hip hop. He can rhyme like few ive heard this early in their career and he started off with a very good album. Rick Ross is painfully average as is his entire camp Wale included this being said by someone from DC. Im sure i have more to say about hip but my fingers are tired of typing now.
