Any word on the next round of Alpine head units?

I bought an Alpine CDA-9886 in early 2008 and have been enjoying it for over a year. However, I bought a new car over the weekend and so it's time for a fresh head unit.

Isn't Alpine about due for a new product lineup? The 9886 delivers fantastic sound quality, but it could use an update. I'd hate to buy the same head unit and see new 2010 models in only a few months.

According to my source their suppose to release the new gear on 9-11 in memory of 9-11. It's going to be insane. Going to have some al-keida gear all up in my shit.

I was hoping Alpine would update the iPod interface cable (for USB charging of the latest iPod/iPhones), and work out a more navigable interface while maintaining the SQ of the 9886. Guess that's too much to ask? Price really isn't a concern.

yep from what i hear they are coming out with a headunit with built in IPOD and will link to ur house wirelessly and headunit with a built in 31band eq and abilty to do 6way active with over 30 xover points and 8v preouts and a unit with a double folding monitor with a total viewing of 12"

hell if i know i havent heard anything ... prolly going to stay close to the same

Expect more plastic, less features, an even plainer display, and higher prices.
Aint capitalism great?
Are there ANY brands that everyone isn't saying gets worse every year? Seems like every major brand gets accused of cheapening products with every new line. Kicker, RE, Alpine, Rockford...

When I look at the features and the detailed multi-colored displays of Alpine HU's from just a few years ago and compare them to their current top of the line 9887 its pretty obvious they're going backwards.

Then they have discontinued the H701 and think the half assed Audessey based PXA650 is all anyone needs even though the Bit One shows a real stand alone T/A EQ is still popular ......and its obvious Alpine is trying too hard to squeeze profits out of their products instead of innovating like they once did.

My prediction:

They will start selling empty shells. RCA outputs will be 20 dollars per pair. An internal amplifier will be 50 bucks. Once it's all installed it will be 50 bucks to activate it so you can turn the thing on. Then 150 bucks to unlock basic features like volume adjustment and channel pre-sets. 200 on top of that for SQ features like EQ, time alignment, etc... Then if you want you can pay another 200 bucks on certain head units for the upgraded IMPRINT kit that will provide more crappy EQ curves that most people don't like and which can't be tweaked and fine tuned without being deleted.

And they probably STILL won't offer built-in and included bluetooth on any of them.
