any welders/machinest?

im currently enrolled in a CNC training class wich is only a 9 month program, the demand over here in chicago for skilled CNC operators is amazing. Im sure there are some training centers in your community college for this, plus the pay is preety good!

Ok from my personal experience, Im a machinst (been for 11 years now), and my dad is a welder.

It alld epends on where you work and what you wanna do.

welding = dirty dangerous job

cnc machinist= not so dirty, and you can make some cool stuff.....ie distro blocks buss bars and custom stuff.

I make enough money to keep my family fed and clothed, would love more but this is what I choose to do.

currently in college for elctro-mechanical engineering, with a background in CAD/CAM and it seems to be a great field to get into, from the people I spoke to. It all depends on where you work and who you work for. I do know that after you are with a company for a while, you may have the opportunity to get a better job like quality control and they get mad $$'s from what I hear.

I would personally go the machine route, specifically the CNC route, because thats the way the industry is heading.

If any of you can make me a small buss bar, I will pay....

Need something about 1" x 2" with three 3/8" holes, equally spaced. I need two of them. I just want the metal to be very conductive....al or brass maybe?

More work will come in the future if the first venture works out
