Any way to retrieve email records from a hard drive?

where the emails ever saved onto the HD? if there were never physicly on the HD then know. when you view them from ur mail box your just seing them through your browser off of the email server. if they have been saved on your HD or you have access to the email server like its an exchange server then yes you can.

i can now give back to the community on a subject since everyone has been so pacient with my noobness in CA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Alright, that's what I was thinking... some woman approached me today and offered me a good bit of cash to retrieve her (soon to be ex)husband's email off of their shared computer... real messy story, told her I'd try to help her out... guess that's a no then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Thanks

umm, theres definatly options she has to get whatever she wants but im not going into that. she can hire someone that really knows what they are doing to help her in that aspect. if she is really desperate (obviously i dont know the situation) she has options. just let her know that.

All you have to do is google whatever e-mail client they use. For example, if they use Outlook, google "saving Outlook e-mails" or something. If they use a computer-based e-mail client then the e-mails would be saved on the HD. If they use a web-based e-mail client (like yahoo! mail or hotmail) then she just needs his password and needs to log into his e-mail account.

I've had to back up emails before, but its been a while and I'm too lazy to look up how to do it again.

If her husband deleted e-mails, you need a data recovery program. You can download some for free, but the free ones aren't the best.

He used yahoo mail... and I seriously doubt she has the password. Is retrieving the records something that I could do with a little research, or is it just not worth worrying about?

Just look for Yahoo mail password cracker. As long as She knows his email account name its easy.

If he never check the box, Make invisable to other users on this machine. She can copy his cookie folder. It might have remember my logon name and password.

Throw on a keylogger, and wait for him to log in.

Or just make up a lot of false emails and take the money.
