If I wanted to run the Wal-Mart "scam" I'd just buy a new system, swap out the top plastic cover that contains the serial, and return the broken one.
Anyway.....

My 360 crapped out as expected and my receipt doesn't have my system serial. I'm trying to figure out if they track these serial numbers and will only allow me to return my system to the wal-mart I purchased it from. Since I've moved 12 hours away from where I bought the system, that's a problem.

they scan the console itself when you go to return it

I worked at Wal Mart for quite a while sadly enough lol. Alot of them do thing's differently but for the most part as long as you have the receipt for it you can return it to any wal mart.

lol i tried that with my ps2 they scanned the s/n cause i told them i bought it recently and i didnt know about the s/n and they were like sir ummm you but this in 02 i was like DANG my brother bought it early

LOL. My 360 died today. Dont really play it much though. Why all of a sudden though did everyones start breaking. Maybe the update a little while back?

There were rumors if a Live update tanking lots of consoles a long time ago, maybe the Spring update is doing the same thing. Mine tanked Wednesday, and my buddy's 6 month old console tanked Friday.
