Any recommendations for a cool running amp?

I use to have a Memphis PR1.1000 and a Elemental Designs Nine.2x, both of which ran fine in the Las Vegas summer heat. They would get a little warm but nothing that was uncomfortable at all. Then I switched to a Soundstream Rub 2500 and a Soundstream reference 2.640. The rubicon would get hot as hell, as in it would burn your hand but at least it would never go into protection. The soundstream reference gets hot as hell too and will go into protect after about 20-30 minutes. The reference amps don't sound any better than the nine.2x I had so I'm getting rid of it. I will never buy another soundstream amplifier and am looking to replace both of them. What amps have you guys ran that run cool all day long with no issues? The only thing I can think of is too buy a used ED nine.1 and nine.2x again since I loved the ed amps and never had a problem with them.

Edit: I know people will say that I should just buy a fan to mount to the amps, but I don't want to do that. My memphis was built with a fan installed in it already, and im not sure if the nine.2x had one as well, but if it didn't it never ran warm enough to need one anyways. Not sure what soundstreams problem is. guess you do get what you pay for...

Yea.... newer Soundstream isn't the best stuff. To run cool, you want to look into efficiency. My set-up is geared towards great efficiency, with a small foot print. My Arc KS300.4 speaker amp is Class G/H. Which boasts nearly Class D efficiency, while maintaining nearly Class A/B SQ. And for my sub amp, Mmats makes some of the most efficient amps in the game. Simply put, if you want it running cool, you gotta spend more cash. Cheaper amplifiers usually skimp out on efficiency.

Nothing wrong with Soundstream if you have the proper electrical to support them...where is your voltage at when the ref shuts down? You do realize you doubled the power requirements and your sig states you are still running stock battery and alt on a ******* Hyundai.....you ******* retard.

The equipment you have is great, but it is not dumbass proof.

Dude, lay off him. He's trying to learn, don't be such a dick about it. Fwiw, I have my 2400w setup running off a shitty Hyundai alternator and battery and have no voltage issues. There's nothing wrong with the Soundstream Rubicons, but they certainly aren't top built, efficient amps either. I've heard just about everyone that runs them say they get hot. Yes, I will agree, running the 2500 off of totally stock electrical isn't smart at all. But, we also don't know where his gain is set.

OP, as said before, there's nothing wrong with the Soundstream equipment, but it is a lot of power to run on stock electrical. However it's also not efficient equipment to begin with. First I must ask, how are your gains set? And where does your voltage drop to when you play at idle?

Then you have THREE options if you wish to run maximum power out of those:

1. Keep the current equipment, get an HO alt, upgrade your battery under the hood, and likely another battery in the rear.

2. Sell the current equipment, spend more money on high efficiency equipment, maybe not need an HO alt, still need the batteries.

3. Go back to a setup with your previous power levels, for less money, and not need to get any electrical upgrades.

Dude how old are you, 15? The only ******* here is you, making assumptions that just aren't true. I've been in the game for 10+ years, so I know what I'm doing you idiot. Just because I had the Rubicon 2500 doesn't mean I had the gains set so that it would put out full power. I set the gains with a DMM so that it would put out 1000 watts rms at 1 ohm just like the memphis was. Voltage hover's around 13.6-13.8, just like it did in the previous setup. So quit riding on soundstreams nuts and go do something productive you ******. The only good thing I found about soundstream so far is that they will at least do rated for the price. Besides that they leave a lot to be desired...

Exactly, he doesn't know anything about my setup except what equipment is being run. Guys this thread is not about how to do something to keep the Soundstreams. There's nothing wrong with my setup, I'm just not happy with the products I am currently using so would like recommendations on other amps that run nice and cool. Thanks for the suggestions that have been made so far, I will look into them.
