Any idea's for a beginner?

Hi ya'll,

I know home audio pretty well, but I dont kn0w anything when it comes to car audio. I've got a 94' Buick century 4dr. I need everything. Amp, deck, speakers, possibly subwoofer. I dont need a huge subwoofer but I appreciate good audio and am prepared to spend 1k or so. Any ideas? I want really clean crisp sound. I live in a state where you get arrested if they can hear your subwoofer 3 cars away. I know many brands but am totally confused when it comes to car audio! help! should I go JBL, infinity, pioneer, clarion, alpine, kenwood, sony? My friend has a pimpin set in his Toyota Supra and he is runnin a JVC deck. Are those any good? He said he like's boston acoustics for speakers? any thoughts? all advice is appreciated!

Head unit- look for Alpine 7894, or one of the new models, like 9813/9815...speakers, go with a set of comps up front, I like the infiniti kappa's, the back just go with a set of 2 ways for rear fill and run them off the head unit. Run the comps off of either a soundstream 2 channel or a us acoustics. For a sub, you can do a 12" ED K series, run it off of a JBL 1200.1, or an Adire Shiva.

snova wouldnt the ED K be heard three cars away easily. especially with that power.

Ahh yeah, meant to say 600.1, I don't know why I said 1200.1...maybe a Alpine Type-R and a 300.1...that would sound nice too...

yeah thats true but in any case i would use a lot of damplifier so that you will not be heard to much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .... i would go for type r and 300 watts. but thats personal taste. in either case sealed will yield better SQ.

thats a nice choice. but i would go for a FOCAL components upfront and on KICK PANELS! and may be you can have a US acoustics with 4 chan so if ever you will/can have a spare of 2 channels if you decide to have the rear connected if you are the kind who wants a good rear fill for passengers otherwise i would go for what NOVA suggested.

Hey guys!

THanks for all the awesome responses! THe way my car is set up, I would have to set any sub in theh trunk. How would that affect the SQ? I was checkin out the Infinty Kappa's and I think I might go that route. Any advice on wiring? I was thinking of hooking the front 4x6's to the HU and then runnin a 4.1 out to the rear 6x9's. I dont need a real awesome back shelf(I only occasionally have more than 3 people in my car) I do a ton of traveling, though. And regularly drive 1-2 of my friends to classes, concerts, gambling runs etc. . . Any price estimates for that HU and amp? I know the speakers are like around 120-140? I should have clarified the "Original" Rubicon amps , I have not heard the rub II amps
