Sounds like a good deal price wise. I know the older Duramax's had injector problems, but they extended the warranty to something like 7 yrs/200,000 miles on them. Id see if it had the done already or needs them. If its not done, Id recommend getting it done if it applies to that year. Im not sure on the programmer he has on it, but its not uncommon to reach 500 hp in a Duramax with intake, exhaust, and a programmer. I would have liked to get one, but they pretty much out of my price range at the time. I still haven't decided my view of IFS on a 3/4 ton truck, though...

i used to drive a 5.7 diesel suburban and that thing ran STRONG, i bet it would have lasted to 300k if i hadent crashed it so many times

Oh, and I'm not too sure about 20 mpg. Id say the truck will probably get average 17 or so unloaded.

Old boss of mine had a 250. Got right around 20-22 mpg. It was beat on bad and he had a little over 300k on that truck. As long as you keep regular matince (spelling) it should be good for 450k.

strong engines and good chioce. buddy had a 2000 and never had any problems. hauled our dirtbikes and four wheelers all over ohio.

My buddy has a 03 Duramax extended cab/long bed. He has his chipped to economy mod and we get 26mpg on highway. It is **** near impossible for a chip to mess up your ECU btw, unless you try some off-brand home-made stuff

btw hes only got about 80,000 on his but the duramax are some of the best diesels ever made, aside from the 12v chevy and the 7.3 powerstroke. Should last easily up to 400,000-500,000

I had an 04 Duramax, that I blew up.

Chips are safe - to an extent. Good miles on the truck for the year, to start with.

Secondly, depending upon what chip, be careful. 03 didnt have the Allison in it, IIRC

Banks and Edge are very safe chips, they give you codes and allow you to troubleshoot them(at least the Banks does) and both have early warning systems. They also both control more than just the amount of fuel that gets dumped. A cheaper "chip" will just dump fuel, it will increase gas mileage but be careful screwing around

4" on 35's with a chip, 102k, I wish I woulda bought it

ya the truck i was looking at has the allison in it. i wouldnt even consider it if it didnt. i dont know what the 03 you had didnt, it seems like its kinda a standard option with the 6.0 diesel but then again ive been known to be wrong a lot. i go to the place to look at it on saturday, hopefully you guys will see a new thread titled my new truck sometime soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
