Any Diesel people here?

i think im about to pick up my first diesel, its an 03 duramax crew cab 4x4 with

105K on it. Has like every option available, and the guy wants 15,000 for it. How long do these motors last, and at this mileage is there anything i should be looking for on it?

its got a chip on it already, guy said he's getting 18-20 freeway which is way better then the lame as 15 im getting with my tundra..i think 15 is even giving it a few extra miles..seriously worst gas mileage of any truck ive ever owned.

i need the 2500 for work, hauling with the tundra just isnt cutting it, ive layed her on the bump stops so many times the rear end sits level with the front..

those chips can mess up your car. I dunno that much about diesel engines though but people buy chips and their ECU gets messed up

diesel is tha bomb. 06 f250. its very expensive. about 150 to fill up at 4.70 a gallon.

but you can leave it running all night and it won't overheat. When at idle it hardly burns any fuel anyway. Maybe leave it running 3-4 full days then run outta diesel. Other than the diesel prices now... I love mine.

ya with the cost of gas and diesel being so high i figured the added mileage the diesel would get me might help offset the cost. i need the truck for work, im just worried about the miles. i hear diesel trucks with that motor can go a long ways, im just not sure though if that person is just full themselves or telling the truth.

Great trucks. It'll last you plenty long. Dont worry about the chip, as long as you're not running it on a power setting constantly you'll be alright most likely.

iv never owned one but iv got 2 friends who are diesel mechanics. anyways, its not a surprise to see a well taken care of diesel last 400,000 miles.

and as far as chips go on a diesel, that wont hurt you at all. its rare to find a used truck without a chip. its 100+ hp and shittons of torque for $300, any one would buy that just to have ya know?

one of the mechanics has a 06 6-speed 2500 dodge cummins quad cab with a power programmer. fastest truck iv rode in. and set his programer for road use and gets 24 miles on a gallon.
