I'm at college right now and I cant get limewire to connect through the firewall and router. I've tried configuring the firewall to allow the port for limewire but still hasn't helped. If anyone knows anything that could help it would be appreciated. All the students connect through the same central router and there is a mandated firewall that we must install but they still allow us to download songs as long as the downloads dont exceed 500 mb's in a day. There must be a way to get past the firewall any help will be appreciated.

You're best luck would be to find a geek on YOUR campus that knows the system. I know my routers/firewalls, but if they are just plain blocking your connection, you are just screwed. And I have already downloaded over 14 gigs in the last 24hrs....500mb a day sucks ***, thats not even a movie

If you're on a college LAN or WAN, I2hub is far better than any other P2P out there.

thanks for the quick replies. what is netstat? i'm a noob with computers. I've tried morpheus and it doesn't work either. I've tried opening a port for both and they're on the exceptions list for the firewall. Yeah 500 mb's **** but thats like 100 songs a day not too bad if it works. I'll try and find a geek here or just ask IT if it'll work I just wanted to see if I could get it working without having to take it down to IT. Anyone in college here have sound systems in their rooms? Me and my room mate got two retro Pioner CS-703 15'' woofers that come with small midrange speakers and two small ports plus a JVC 5 disc changer and a audiosource graphic eq and spectrum analyzer. We've been warned 3 times to turn it down it gets crazy loud for being from the 1970's:naughty:

If you're not willing to spend the time to break into the campus LAN/WAN and cover your tracks, you don't deserve to leech off their bandwidth. Noone is willing to take the time or effort to do things right. Kids these days...

Your profile says your 20 not much older than me but thats beside the point. I'm sorry i'm not a computer hacker. There is a computer science major who live 3 rooms down who says he's been busted for hacking i'll just see if he can help me. Thanks for all the replies and help though. You don't have to break in we all got a packet from IT, quote "If file sharing is left active on your computer, people other than those you've designated can download your files, which can significantly raise your usage. It's very important that you set your sharing preference properly, especially regarding access to shared folders." From this I got that they don't care if you download stuff just as long as it doesn't exceed the limit they set which is 500 mb's. I just needed to know how to get around the firewall or through the firewall so I could DL songs.
