another single sub vs dual sub question

hello,

ok, after spending over 4 hours on the internet reading up on this topic. i just want a truth behind it. two subs vs one sub, give that they are equal in size, why one or the other.

I understand that one might be prefer over two if the space is limited.

i just want to hear your honest experiences if you have used both settings in your car with a same amp. thank you.

if the subs are the same, and power is the same either way, and the box remained the same specs, 2 will always be louder as there is twice the cone area...but that is only if constants remained the same. Obviously a DD, DC, Sundown 12 would blow the doors off of 2 crap 12s on the same power, but that enters an entirely different aspect to the arguement....in short, the answer to your question is the doubling of cone area

sound quality wise, what's the advantage and disadvantage of doing it one way or the other
With two subs, less excursion would be needed for a given loudness, so less distortion overall. Less power compression because of more copper/motors to dissipate heat. IMO the more the merrier, if it's within your budget, you have enough room, and are getting the response curve you're wanting.
