Another Kenwood DNX8120 question. . .

I was all set to buy this units, but I went to Cartoys and played with one and was disappointed to find you cannot make color adjustments while playing a DVD. Color can only be adjusted while an external source is playing, but not for video from the internal DVD drive. Would not bother me, but the color had to much blue and red (white objects had an off shade of purple). Anyone else see this? I am curious, as maybe it was just that unit.

I am also good friends with a couple of guys working at the cartoys, and they told me they have had a large number of returns for the number of units they have sold. Said they lock up and have to be removed from power to get them to reboot. Anyone else heard of this? Makes me worried about buying from a non-authorized dealer, and the cheapest I can find it authorized is $1274.

Man this unit seems to have it all for around $1100. . .

I believe the lockup was a s/w problem, they got an update and should be marked on the outside of the box advising that it has the s/w update.

mine had a yellow sticker on the box that said certified upgrade...is that the same thing?

yup, mine had the same (well mine is the ddx812, basically the same without nav)

Car toys has not called me with this problem. They have had a lot of returns? Who are you talking too? At the car toys event I was told by everyone in the DFW area that the 8120 was the biggest seller and Pioneers were being returned.

i heard of lots of probs with the new pioneers...not hardly any on the new kenwoods

The f series? There is also an update for these as well that supposedly fixes all the problems

I returned my Avic f series and bought a dnx5120, may be getting rid of it and getting the 8120....I love the 5120, just want something a little more high end....the new avic f series was horrible....they had a lot to fix, I hope they got it all

13 band eq and t/a sold me on the 812. Like it alot better than the D3 I had.

i heard of lots of probs with the new pioneers...not hardly any on the new kenwoods

kenwoods have been rock solid for a few years, especially their GPS. many of the followers slept on them due to the pioneer units, but they have been ahead of the curve.

i have owned 3 different Kenwood units and currently have one in each of my cars
