Another Ground Problem?

Okay so I have been trying to help this guy that lives in upper PA for almost a month now. He has a 97 civic with a system in it. He had no problems with it until he touched the pos to ground. Now he is getting winning noise in his speakers basically alt noise. He has 3 head units and 3 amps he has tried them all. So he though that maybe it was the alt so he changed that nothing. Than I told him to ground the rca's nothing. Than he re did the ground wires and all were the engine is nothing "i mean no change when I say nothing". So I told him to take his ipod and hook it up to the amp clean no noise what so ever. Than he showed my under the hood "pics" he has the power wire for the amps going in the fuse box so it will show on the ELD. I told him to put it directly to the battery but he dose not think that will do it. Also I told him to relocate his rcas to the other side away from the power wire I do not know if he has done this yet. So anyone have any ideas? I had this problem in my old car not after touching ground but I could never get rid of mine.

you said if he connects the ipod directly to the amp there is no noise and he has tried several different head units. to me that would mean something is wrong with the wiring for the hu, and particularly the ground. the first thing i would try would be running all lines directly to the battery (bypass the factory wiring) and see if the problem persists with either hu.

Ya sounds good to me as well. I am about to smack him because every time I recommend trying something he says "but it was like that before the noise started".

You say it was fine until he "touched the pos to ground". What is "the pos" and how did he touch it to ground?

Can you post the "under the hood pics"?

Does he have a DMM?

when he says that just explain to him that if he wasn't a dumbass you would not even be having the conversation let alone arguing what was and wasn't working before.
