Another amp question: 350 watts enough for 12" Alpine Type R?

Been on the site for a couple weeks and am slowly adjusting to the industry changes over the last 20 years.

Need insight on sub power: 350 watts enough for a single 12" Alpine Type R (dual 2 in series @ 4 ohm)?

Adding to factory system and found a 5 channel Zapco that does 350 into the sub channel and I have access to a new sub for cheap.

Amp has a 80 amp fuse and I figure factory charging system can drive this. Looking at the sub, afraid this may not be enough power as it looks to be built to absorb high amounts of power and may be inefficient.

Listen to a wide variety of music, jazz, rap, techno, but I'm looking for strong accurate bass and not winning a SPL contest. Planning on ported enclosure in the trunk of an Accord coupe.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

If you used to be an installer in the 90's, then why question weather or not 350 watts to a sub is good enough? Even a 100 watts will, but prob won't be enough to shake the mirrors off the car. I think those Alpine type R's can take either 1000 or 1500, depending upon model #.

Seems these so called "installers from the past" question the most obvious answer in front of them.

If 350 watts isn't loud enough, sell that amp buy a more powerful one. Only you will know if it's enough power for ya.

I guess that's a valid point. We once took an Alpine head unit and drove 4 12s with it to prove a point. 5 - 10 watts into each of the subs was rather impressive. Without seeing how stiff the sub is mechanically I thought I'd throw it out there.

Keep in mind back in the 90s, subs were built a heck of alot more efficient than todays models, and most were like 150w rms. I think that is the gist of what hes getting at.

A true 350w should be plenty if you just need bass to blend in with the front stage.

Thanks!

It's 350 out of a Zapco so should be true power.
