amp turns off when system turned up

i got a 01 eclipse v6 and i got a 15" kove u2 with a 1600 watt hifonics amp and when i turn it up all the way the amp turns off. is this because i need a better battery? should i get a red top for under the hood and a kinetik hc 800 for just the sytem??

yeah my amps grounded fine, and when the cars turned off it don;t take much for it at all to turn off

Does your dashboard have a volt meter -- if so, what does it read? Do your lights dim?

Big-3, 2nd battery if necessary. 1600w is a lot for a stock electrical.

have you done any electrical upgrades, or did you just throw the amp and sub in there and hope for the best?

yeah i got a volt guage, it reads like 12 or 11 and the lights do dim quite a bit.

im not sure the alternator size i think 85 amps? but not sure, and yes i know, if i got a better battery under teh hood like a red top would that make it any better?

battery would help, HO alt would definantly help, and big 3 you need.
