amp tuning

"PUT ON" by Jeezy. for tuning

"You aint Know" by Sean Paul

I used the second bass note in the song for tuning my setup. however, you can try it and verify with another song you know of with sustained heavy bass notes

I set my gains some what conservatively, then again I'm more into sq. If I'm not mistaken when your amp clips it sends a square wave to your speaker. It will sound good and then it will sound like a$$ and it should have a raise in db that's more obvious. Given that your ear is less sensitive to low bass, your ears will start to detect it when it clips at 10%. Even though its a marginal amount I will back off the gain more than just a hair off audible clipping.

How often to you listen to your system at full tilt anyways? When I go camping I'll play mine for a few hours from time to time with the doors and trunk open.

If your fond of your hearing grab a spl meter from radio shack. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, but it will at least give you an idea of what kind of db's your listing to. I've started listing to an audio book on my drive to work and listen to music on the way home. Got world war z (zombie stuff) in the cd player now.
