Amp smoked

Tonight my Kicker KX850.2 started smoking out of the vent and it's in protection mode, I think it's dead. The fuses in the amp are still fine (3 x 40) and my 100a fuse on my fused distro is still fine. It was also running at 4 ohms because I have two 8 ohm svc subs. Do you think it was just a bad amp or could it have been my fault?

how long have you had that amp hooked up b4 this incident?

It has been hooked up for a few weeks.

Edit - I haven't had it a year yet. I got it on 4/21-05 from ikesound.

hmmm sounds like you hooked something up wrong. check all the connections (power, ground, REM)

Nothing is hooked up wrong, it was playing.
