amp shutting down

I just completed my install, install consists of:

alpine 9887 hu

ID CTX65CS components (active off HU)

ID IDQ12V3.D4 12" sub in sealed box (1.04 cubic feet) running a single 12

Alpine MRP-600F 4 channel amp for components

Alpine MRP-M500 mono amp for sub

Everything sounds great.. but when I play something bass heavy the bass amp will sometimes turn off (blue light on amp still on though). I have to turn the deck off and back on to get the amp to turn back on. I am not turning so loud its all distorted or anything.

I have 14.04 volts at the amp with car running, like 12.4 with car off. have 4 gauga wire running from battery to trunk. suggestions? or perhaps thats all the amp has in it? Hope not, My old punch 100 and 12w6 never shut down on me.

Honestly you could be overgained on the amp. I notice a lot of amps I have had if the gain is too high you will clip the amp out. I know the ones I used though they reset themselves and after a few seconds would play again. I am not sure about your situation. but this is something to look into

i tried lowering the gain today, but then there is just no bass. With the volume set about 3/4 up.. gain around 2/3 up I get decent bass (still less than I expected compared to my old punch 100 and 12w6 setup). I watch and listen to the sub.. don't hear distortion and the sub does not seem to be moving all crazy, if I up the gain then a little bit at that point the sub will just cut out.. and nothing until I turn the deck off and back on. so not sure if its an amp issue or sub issue.

Well when the gain is lowered does it cut out still or not. I had the exact same issue with a kole amp. I litterally had to have the gain all the way up to get bass out of it and go up to volume 32 to get the bass to max out but amp would clip out a lot. Added a cross over set the gain to like a little less than half. After that maxed out at like volume 27 and even if I went up to 30 never clipped out again.
