amp shuts off

When I turn up the volume on my deck, the amp for the highs and mids shuts off. It get's hot enough to burn skin. Could it be the wiring of my components ? I have the front mid and highs on the left channel and the back mid and highs on the right channel of the amp. The amp is a Kenwood 1000w. Any suggestions? thanks

Each component speaker (1 driver, 1 tweeter) should ideally get their own channel. If you have the pair wired together to use one channel, and the same for the rears, then that could be your problem depending on the speakers impedance and the specs of your amp. It could also be the gain, the ground, the amp itself, etc.
